Back in Bangkok after having gone from Chiang Mai to Vang Vieng (Laos). So far Vang Vieng would have to be my favourite place. The locals are really friendly and are happy to share family meals with you. You can go tubing: sitting in an inflatable doughnut and floating down the river with bars all the way along and lots of flying foxes and swings from which you can jump into the water. Vang Vieng is also the place where you can ask for the "special" menu and see items like a magic shake, joint, hash cookie, mushroom pizza, etc. Not that I tried any of it, but it is very easy to get and police seem non existent in the town. You can spend your days relaxing in the countless bars or go exploring in the mountains and caves. Then at night, you can keep chilling out or go to an open air club with bonfires going all night to keep everyone warm. Only a 3 hour wait for the next bus to the islands in the south of Thailand, first stop is Ko Tao, then perhaps some of the smaller ones and finally Ko Phangan for the full moon party. Turns out I forgot to bring my camera cable with me, so I'll put up some photos when I get back to Australia. Keep training hard everyone!
